Preston Park

An Accessible Birding Location in Butler County

Location: Preston Park is located at 415 S Eberhart Road, Butler, PA 16001. The road to the park is paved and leads to a parking lot with spaces for several cars.  Preston Park is a historic location on the national registry. The road from the parking lot to the park's houses is paved and there are several benches and picnic tables spaced out. From the paved road, several trails are available, some gravel covered and others grass covered. An arboretum is also available for your viewing pleasure on the park grounds.


Facilities:  There is a restroom available at the park. During warmer months, the modern restrooms are open. During winter, a porta potty is available. There is no water fountain available. 


Likely Birds: Preston Park has variety of edge habitat including a pond, forest area, a meadow, and a grass-covered lawn.  Several raptors have been spotted here including Red-tailed Hawks, Coopers Hawks, and Sharp-shinned Hawks.  The pond provides habitat for Great Blue Heron and during fall migration 2024, a Yellow-crowned Heron was spotted here.
