Macoskey Center at Slippery Rock University

An Accessible Birding Location in Butler County

Location: Macoskey Center is part of Slippery Rock University and is open to the public. It is located at 247 Harmony Road, Slippery Rock, PA 16057.  There is a parking lot available.  The Macoskey Center is currently in the process of adding two accessible parking spaces and an accessible trail. As of Fall 2025, the trail is usable but not finished. This trail is tightly packed gravel that leads to an observation deck and walkway.  Other trails in the park are mostly flat and either dirt or grass covered. 


Facilities:  There is a visitor's center located at this property however it is unknown if there are restrooms inside for the public. 


Likely Birds: These trails travel mostly through wooded habitats. Birds that have been spotted here include: Red-shouldered Hawk, Pileated Woodpecker, Northern House Wren, and Blue-headed Vireo.
